While everyone thought that actor Vishal Reddy had a tragic end after Tamil Nadu State Election Commission denied his nomination for RK Nagar by-poll after the two proposals who signature on nomination papers was declared as "forged", the actor is given another opportunity to produce those two proposers before EC by 3PM today. "God save my beloved country from this anarchy!"
The Election Commission (EC) allocated the "pressure cooker" symbol to sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran (also spelled as Dinakaran) to contest the RK Nagar bypoll and allocated the "hat" symbol to another party, ANI reported. "Totally unfair. I bring this to your notice & I hope justice prevails", tweeted Vishal to the Twitter handles of the PM and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Vishal had written to the EC and the RO requesting recalling the rejection of his nomination.
But the Returning Officer rejected Vishal's nomination papers, saying the signatures of two proposers were forged.
In Tamil Nadu, late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is referred to as Amma.
He said the rejection of his nomination was pre-planned and the two proposers (Sumathi and Deepan) were threatened.
Shuddering in disbelief and disgust, the intrepid actor who has now made a decision to take a headlong plunge into politics says: "What we are witnessing is the systematic and effectual death of democracy in our country".
According to Vishal, the Returning Officer would get up from his seat and go out to speak to somebody on the phone. Out of the 59 candidates, 47 are independents.
A total of 145 persons had filed their nomination papers, of that 72 nominations have been accepted and 73 rejected. Later, 13 candidates withdrew from the electoral race.
The key contestants in the bypoll are ruling party's E Madusudanan, an old party warhorse and a former Minister, and DMK's up and coming leader N Marudhu Ganesh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded K. Nagarajan as its candidate.
The RKNagar seat fell vacant following the death of Jayalalithaa on December 5, 2016.
