The return of Paul George did not go how thousands of Pacers fans hoped it would, as IN lost Wednesday night. During his introduction, as well as each time he touched the ball, the Pacers faithful chose to serenade George with boos - an act Cleveland Cavaliers sharpshooter J.R. Smith made a decision to respond to on Twitter.
George had just 12 points on 3-of-14 shooting in his return to Indianapolis after being traded from the Pacers last summer.
George, playing the villain role, ended his night with a horrendous line of 3-14 from the field.
Steven Adams helped lead Oklahoma City to a 51-46 at the half.
While George nailed two clutch free-throws late on against his former team as the Thunder picked up the road win.
Victor Oladipo, the former Thunder guard who came to IN in the George trade, had 19 points to lead the Pacers. Still, they have some players that should concern the Pacers after their rebounding struggles on Wednesday, particularly All-Star center Andre Drummond, who had 14 points and 21 rebounds in a 114-97 win over the Pacers on November 8 in Detroit.
The Thunder hit 45 percent from three-point range, going 13-for-29. It's the first time he has been back since he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Pacers close out their six-game homestand with a matchup against Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 PM ET at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
