An Ola cab driver allegedly harassed a 23-year-old woman after trapping her in the auto using child lock on Sunday night in Bengaluru.
The woman was trapped by the driver by activating the child lock system inside the vehicle. Safety of customers is our priority and we will continue to extend our full support to this investigation against the said driver, "the Ola spokesperson added". Ola has asked the woman to lodge a formal complaint in the matter.
"I have informed the police inspector of my area but I have not lodged a formal complaint", she said. The driver took her to a deserted spot on the Ring Road in south east Bengaluru and suddenly stopped, the woman said.
The woman in distress started banging the door hysterically-he let her go after some time. He then tried to touch the woman inappropriately by reaching back from the front seat. The woman ran for 500 meters till she reached the Ejipura traffic signal. A similar disgusting shameful incident was reported from Hyderabad where the 26-year-old Uber driver was arrested after the woman passenger on board filed a complaint against the driver.
The woman, however, alleged that Ola did not inform her about the action it took against the driver.
"The company on its part has claimed that it has taken necessary actions and the driver has been "off-roaded".
Following the incident an Ola spokesperson said, "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride". The cabbie identified as Rajshekhar Reddy made several calls to the woman, threatening her with dire consequences if she complained against him.
Meanwhile, Ola representatives have confirmed that Reddy has been suspended after the complaint and the company representative will probe the issue.
