It's an "extensive closure" and unclear when the area will reopen, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A second witness, Kyle Frankiewicz, said it appeared that the engine the front vehicle "seemed to be in okay shape" while one of passenger cars was pushed up against the back of the engine. The emergency doors were not functioning correctly, which forced passengers to kick out train windows to exit.
'We had just passed the city of DuPont and it seemed like we were going around a curve, ' Karnes said.
A highspeed train derailed Monday morning outside of Tacoma, Washington killing several people. "Lots of smoke. People running to try to help", said Greg Mukai, who was also on I-5 when it happened.

The Seattle Times reports that the majority of those people - 77 - are or have been taken to area hospitals.
Four of those patients are considered "level red" patients, meaning they have the most severe injuries.
