There are gold wheels, a (no doubt McLaren F1-inspired) 24-carat gold heatshield for the engine, smatterings of gold in the cabin, and our favourite bit, gold lettering on the wing.
The uniqueness of the vehicle is also given by the "1 of 1" plaque found inside the auto, as well as the rear wing that features Bruce McLaren's words: "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone".
The product of the MSO Bespoke programme, which allows customers "almost limitless" customisation options, the 720S is finished in satin black paint with gold-coloured wheels, with matching interior trim. Short of taking a hacksaw to the auto itself, there isn't much MSO can't do to customise or personalise a vehicle, and it works with some of the world's wealthiest buyers.
McLaren has revealed its latest McLaren Special Operations (MSO) one-off - a black and gold 720S bearing founder Bruce McLaren's words on the rear spoiler. Also added were carbon fiber exterior packs encompassing the front splitter and air intakes, rear bumper and roof panel. It's showing at the Dubai International Motor Show, after which the unnamed new owner will take delivery. McLaren adds that more than 120 hours were required for the personalization process, with the rear wing alone requiring 30 hours to finish. A gold-coloured applique on each door inner completes the visual treatment.
No change to the mechanicals, with the 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 continuing to serve up 720 PS at 7,500 rpm and 770 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. "The quote from Bruce McLaren rings true not only of the history of McLaren, but also the achievements of the UAE and the Gulf states over the last four decades", said Andreas Bareis, McLaren's Managing Director for the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The UAE and the region are very important to McLaren, not only in terms of our client base, but also because of the support from our shareholders.
