Maron adds that CK said he wasn't going to publicly address the rumours.
Maron said he wasn't aware of any other incidents of sexual misconduct involving his friend, but he admitted that larger institutional problems in the world of comedy made it hard for women to come forward. "It's just the environment that enabled the dismissiveness of it", Maron said. "I would say, 'This story about you forcing these women to watch you jerk off, what is that, is that true?'"
He also opens up about being forcefully kissed by a college professor when he was 18 or 19 years old, saying that his body "went into a paralysis" and that he "carried that shame and confusion with me for a while".
"Well, the big deal is that it's boundary-shattering". It will give it life. Maron said. "I'm going to be his friend". They could have left, they could have done this, they could have done that.
"He's my friend and it's a hard position to be in", Maron said.
"There was no place for them to go with these stories, where they felt safe to tell them", Mr. Maron said.
"Look, everybody has made mistakes", he said. If you don't feel like you're changing quick enough, you can behave.
It's unclear exactly when the as-yet-untitled Breeders album will arrive, but you can listen to the full episode of WTF with Marc Maron over here. "Get help, because the most secrets you keep, the more malignant it becomes". "He did some gross s-, some damaging s-. This is obviously a fucking massive, turbulent learning moment for men, if you choose to take the education".
"I'm disappointed in my friend". I mean, it's probably the best time to be his friend, when he needs to make changes in his life. "At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true", C.K. wrote in a lengthy apology following the Times report. "He can learn from that, I hope". "It's a predicament for them".
Maron later discussed empathy for women in predominantly male work environments like the comedy world - "There's no HR department in comedy" - and shared an adage from a female friend: "What it comes down to is that no one should be asked if they want to see your dick when they walk into work". "And I wielded that power irresponsibly".
In the wake of the scandal, Indie distributor The Orchard cancelled the November 17 release of C Ks film "I Love You, Daddy", while Netflix scrapped a planned comedy special, and HBO announced it would remove all programs from the comedian off its platforms.
Marc Maron has quality musicians on his WTF With Marc Maron podcast pretty often, but when he had Kim Deal of The Breeders (and also formerly of the Pixies) on today's episode, he got a pretty big scoop: Deal told him that The Breeders are planning to release a new album in 2018. The eposé, which was published last week, accused the comedian of masturbating in front of several female associates.
His overall production deal with FX was canceled, and he lost his role as executive producer - as well as the compensation that came with that title - on the FX comedy shows Better Things and Baskets, the Amazon series One Mississippi, and a TBS animated series, The Cops.
