The most interesting update has been made to the engine which now makes about 18 bhp more and Mahindra has also introduced a new Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The updated Scorpio will be powered by the 140PS version of the 2.2-litre mHawk, which is found under the hood of the XUV500.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Tuesday launched an updated version of its popular Scorpio. The facelift offers a maximum power of 140 BHP along with a peak torque of 330 Nm. The facelifted avatar of the SUV gets cosmetic and feature updates along with changes in the power output. The engine is linked to an all-new easy shift 6-Speed manual transmission. The base mode S3, on the other hand, get the older m2DICR engine that makes 75 bhp.
The exterior changes on the new Mahindra Scorpio include a redesigned grille with seven slats along with a tweaked front bumper and new projector headlamps. Mahindra claims that it has also improved the NVH levels on the Scorpio and the SUV now comes with new 6th generation Borg Warner Turbo Charger and 9.1 Bosch ABS. The Scorpio will continue to be offered as a micro-hybrid, and there is no change to its start-stop system. The new model of Scorpio facelift comes with five options in color, which includes, Molten Red, D Sat Silver, Pearl White (Only on S11), Diamond White (Except S11), and Napoli Black. As for the side profile, it boasts of redesigned ORVMs with integrated side turn indicators, while riding on new alloy wheels. The most significant improvement comes in the form of a more powerful engine. The taillamps get a red-tint and the rear door misses out on the black plastic cladding.
The cabin has also gone through some considerable changes and now instead of the side facing jump seats, you get a proper bench seat for the third row and that too with a centre armrest. In addition, there is a roof mounted sunglass holder and mobile holder spot.
Other features include projector headlamps, 6-inch touch-screen infotainment with Global Positioning System and fully automatic temperature control.
The new 2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift comes with a host of new features. Currently, its biggest rival is the Tata Safari Storme but it also competes with 5-seater SUVs like the Renault Duster, the newly launched Captur and the Hyundai Creta.
