Fans were elated when it was announced that Laurence Fishburne would play Dr. Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but the actor today revealed the role is just the beginning of his relationship with Marvel.
Fishburne told Collider about the secret project which he pitched to Marvel before being cast as Bill Foster in the Ant-Man sequel.
"I am developing something else for Marvel, which I can't talk about it". It's gonna be really cool. It's gonna change the world, we hope (laughs). "I went to Marvel and pitched them something that really couldn't work out-there was a lot of legal red tape that just [was] something they couldn't work out", Fishburne said. "So they came to me with an offer to be Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp".
"All I can tell you is I'm playing Bill Foster, who was Hank Pym's assistant". And for good reason, since this summer, his name appeared in the casting ofAnt-Man and the Wasp signed Marvel... That's how I enter into the world and I'm very excited. "It's gonna be as fun and cool and smart as the first one".
The film stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Pena as Luis, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, T.I.as Dave, Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne.
Fishburne is a strong addition to the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it will be interesting to see exactly how his character fits into the story.
The next Marvel movie, Black Panther, will be released on February 14th in France.
In terms of that secret project, it's really hard to say what it might be. Regardless, judging by Fishburne's excitement, it must be something big - no pun intended. Ant-Man and the Wasp will make it on the 18th of July 2018 on our screens.
