Zoella has responded to criticisms over her £50 Advent calendar, following several days of backlash online.
Boots were forced to cut the price of the "Zoella 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar" after substantial numbers of customers vented their frustrations it was extortionate. A total of 142 reviews has so far given the calendar a rating of less than 1.5 stars.
The calendar attracted so much backlash that the cost has been halved to £25.
Some fans were quick to leap to her defence though. and Zoella herself explained on YouTube that she was not involved in setting a price for the calendar.
"Many of the items could easily be bought in a £ store. for example you receive a literal bag of CONFETTI behind one of the doors. £50 for a poorly designed 12 day cheap advent calendar is an insult to anyone who has ever supported her", said another.
The resurfaced tweets come after the beauty blogger has come under fire for her costly advent calendar.
So Zoe thought it only right to mention the situation in her latest vlog, as she explains that it wasn't down to her to come up with the price point.
Another said: "Don't get me wrong, I love Zoella but you can't deny how absolutely ridiculous that advent calendar is". "If you don't agree with the price don't buy it simple, no point moaning over it".
The offending product bears the name of popular makeup and lifestyle Youtuber Zoe "Zoella" Sugg. "However, the pricing and in store promotional strategy of the collection, including the calendar, is at the control of third parties and is not set by Zoe".
But the Zoella 12 Days of Christmas advent calendar has caused a storm on social media and been branded "not worth it" and "tat" by reviewers.
The lifestyle themed advent calendar features 12 windows filled with exclusive treats, including scented candles, accessories, stationery and baking tools.
"We will be offering the product at half price during our Christmas promotion, where the calendar will be on sale for £25.00 from Thursday 16 November", the statement read.
She now lives in Brighton with her boyfriend and fellow online vlogger Alfie Deyes who runs PointlessBlog.
