Vance ultimately declined to prosecute Weinstein. Investigators conducted a sting, listening to a call between the two and getting the model to record an in-person encounter in which Weinstein alternated between trying to persuade her to come into his hotel room and apologizing for his conduct at his office.
She said she felt as if she needed to sign it, because the media had been tough on her amid her allegations. The settlement included a signed statement from Gutierrez, to be released in the event she broke the agreement, in which she stated that the behavior she accused Weinstein of had never happened.
