Brady reportedly went for an MRI on the left shoulder this week. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Brady suffered what is believed to be an AC joint sprain.
Considering both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were present for the stretching portion of practice on Wednesday when the media was present, it was surprising to many that both were listed as non-participants in the Wednesday practice session. In his history, he has gone 23-7 against his AFC East foe, looking to extend that record on Sunday as New England battles the 3-2 Jets for first place in the division. During a time when nearly all quarterback's bodies break down (late 30s, early 40s), Brady has not missed a game he has been eligible to play in since that 2008 season.
Brady has had trouble with his left shoulder several times over his 18-year career, but he has never missed a game because of it. "Let's line them up and play", said Brady in his press conference prior to the game against the Panthers. The ball's got to come out on time and find the open guy and cut it loose. We've got to do a good job of that at the quarterback position. In comparison, the best quarterbacks of Brady's generation, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Kurt Warner, just to name a few, have combined for six Super Bowls since Brady's first start in 2001.
Running back Rex Burkhead (rib), tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (ankle), linebackers Dont'a Hightower (knee) and Elandon Roberts (ankle) and receiver Matthew Slater (hamstring) were limited.
