Although Logan was the only X-Men movie to debut in 2017, Fox has a number of films slated for 2018, including New Mutants, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix - plus, it was recently announced Gambit will release in early 2019.
Since the teaser trailer for New Mutants is arriving on Friday the 13th, it seems like they are leaning pretty heavily into that idea.
Director Josh Boone announced on Instagram that the first teaser trailer for New Mutants will drop at 12:01AM PST on October 13. Reports have suggested Fox is looking to make a younger mark on the X-Men franchise and put its new adolescent heroes in a horror scenario. Inspired by the legendary "Demon Bear Saga", created by comic book greats Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, it promises to transport X-Men fans into one of the most terrifying superhero films to date. It walked them through a trilogy of New Mutant films that would build on each other.
Now that Fox has debuted the first look at New Mutants fans and casual moviegoers alike may have a better idea of what to expect from this particular X-Men spinoff. The gang will discover their powers whilst imprisoned, but they will be forced to use their mutations to save themselves from the location.
The film follows five mutants - Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why), and Blu Hunt (The Originals) - who are told they are in a hospital because they are risky.
New Mutants now has a 3.55 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the seventeenth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
