Two girls were mowed down by a vehicle belonging to Shiv Sena's Baramati unit Chief Pappu Mane on Baramati-Morgaon Road on Thursday, claimed TV reports.
After the incident, agitated villagers set the vehicle on fire. Local police officials said that around three to four persons were in the SUV when the vehicle knocked down the girls.
Angry locals set the SUV ablaze after, Pappu Mane and his accomplices fled from the spot. A group of angry locals set it on fire and resorted to a "rasta roko" (road block) to demand the driver's arrest, he said.
The girls died on the spot after being hit by the auto.

CNN-News18 reported that the auto belonged to Shiv Sena's Baramati chief Pappu Mane.
Police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 and other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
The arrested trio are identified as Akash Jagtap, Hrishikesh Chavadhar, and Prithviraj Chavan, all residents of Baramati. "At this point, we will not be able to reveal who among the five was driving the auto, as it is an ongoing probe", said Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Baramati, Bapu Bangar.
Mane along with another person who was sitting in the auto fled from the scene soon after the accident.
