The West Bengal police has served a notice on expelled CPI (M) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee, after a woman filed a complaint with the police authorities accusing the MP of sexually exploiting her and also threatening her if she made the matter public.
"I was in a relationship with Ritabrata Banerjee". Mr. Banerjee has claimed the allegations are false and that he has lodged a complaint in Kolkata, demanding action against the woman for "maligning" his image, a Kolkata Police officer said. During this time, he promised he would marry me.
She has also claimed that Banerjee had travelled with her overseas during her stay in the Netherlands and they were engaged in a physical relationship since 2016.
"In his complaint at the Garfa police station in Kolkata, he said: ". she threatened to cause harm to my life and career. "This is a politically motivated conspiracy", the leader has stated. "He also said he would give me Rs 50 lakh if I didn't tell anybody", the woman said in a video.
"Hard Facts. "Manufactured Lies" will be combated".
According to Banerjee, the woman "portrayed and represented herself" to be a hapless woman in urgent need of a loan to pursue education overseas. State government officials confirmed that Dutta underwent a medical test on Wednesday, following which the decision was taken to issue summons to Banerjee. The complainant extorted money from me. He transferred Rs 2.5 lakh to my account as a compensation for having a physical relationship with me.
Banerjee was shown the door by the Communist Party of India-Marxist last month after an internal inquiry found him "outright guilty" on four charges, including "moral degeneration in relation to women" and "serious inconsistencies between his income and expenditure".
