The number of people who have died in Florida due to circumstances related to Hurricane Irma now stands at 26, majority the result of medical conditions and majority occurring after the storm.
In North Carolina and SC, where Duke Energy provides electricity for more than 4 million customers, the utility said it has turned the power back on for 160,000 customers, and that 57,000 remain affected. The company is on track to restore power to 95 percent of all customers impacted by Hurricane Irma, who can accept power, by Saturday night or earlier.
FPL committed to restore power to all of its East Coast customers by the end of Sunday.
There are now less than 75,000 customers experiencing outages.

Messages on social media circulating on Friday indicated that the company was going to reimburse residents that had to throw out food spoiled after the power outages.
The unfortunate reality, he said, is that someone has got to be the last customer to get power. These critical infrastructure facilities are divided into high-priority and priority categories and incorporated into FPL's restoration plans.
In Georgia, more than 500,000 electricity accounts are still out of service, Georgia Public Broadcasting reports.
