Governor Eddie Baza Calvo received successive phone calls this morning from both the Chief of Staff General John Kelly and US President Donald Trump assuring him of continual White House support.
"I just wanted to pay my respects and we are with you one thousand per cent, you are safe".
"We are with you 1,000 per cent, you are safe", he adds.
Donald Trump has told Guam's Governor North Korea's threat to launch a missile strike near the remote Pacific island will boost tourism, while assuring the politician the United States stands behind the territory "1,000 per cent".
"Mr President, as the Governor of Guam, representative of Guam's people, and as an American citizen, I felt never more safe and confident with you at the helm", the Governor said with a smile. All over the world they're talking about Guam. "I just wanted to call and say hello".
"Don't worry about a thing and they should have had me eight years ago, or at least somebody with my thought process, because that was the time", Trump said.
Tensions between North Korea and the USA escalated this week amid increasingly heated rhetoric between Washington and Pyongyang. "We've got 95 per cent occupancy and after all this stuff comes down we're going to have 110 per cent occupancy".
"If an attack warning is issued, take cover as quickly as you can, under concrete structure or below ground if possible", the sheet adds.
A video shows Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo laughing and joking with the president as they discuss everything from the readiness of the U.S. military to tourism.
"We are the best in the world by a factor of five", he says.
He said the United States is preparing for an all-out war against the DPRK as it is mobilizing its army, navy, marines, air force and psychological forces around the Korean peninsula.
Trump again reassures Calvo, saying, "We'll see how it all works out but you're not going to have a problem".
