Seemingly dropped in favor of the Moto Z range, the Moto X hasn't had a new addition since 2015 but we can now confirm that Motorola is working on a new handset in the X range.
The smartphone Moto X4 has not yet been officially presented - Lenovo will show it to the end of the current month, but the date of the event is not reported.
The dual rear camera setup consists of a 12 MP main shooter with dual pixel autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, and 1.4µm pixel size, as well as an 8 MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size and a 120-degree field of view. And thanks to a leak by Android Authority, we have some new details. Europe, North America and Latin America are expected to get the 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage variant while the Asia Pacific markets will get the 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage variant. The Moto X4 will probably be able to get up to the same tricks as the Moto Z2 Force's twin lenses in relation to features like depth of field effects.
The report also adds that the Moto X4 will be available in two colour variants - Sterling Blue and Super Black.
So what does the Moto X4 bring to the (crowded) table? The Moto X4 will also be IP68 dust and water resistant, offering additional protection for those with butter fingers. Powered by a 3,000mAh battery, the Moto X4 is touted to support Motorola's patented TurboCharging feature and a bunch of native apps like Moto Display, Moto Voice and Moto Actions.
As for availability, we're not sure when the Moto X4 will go on sale but we'll let you know as soon as we have more information.
Earlier this year mobile tipster Evan Blass tweeted an alleged lineup of the Moto phones releasing this year, which indicated Motorola wouldn't be satisfied with just one flagship.
Motorola is keen on not only resurrecting the Moto X-series, but also doing so with a bang.
