We're not guaranteeing that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be the next Hamilton on Broadway, but we're not not saying that, either. Playing at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway, home to a wonderful amount of shows in the past, will hold the two part play next Spring.
Preview performances will begin March 2018, and the show will officially kick off on April 22, 2018.
But what about the cast?
Three stars who won Olivier Awards-Best Actor Jamie Parker (Harry Potter); Best Actress Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger); Best Supporting Actor Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy)-as well as Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley), Poppy Miller (Ginny Potter), Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter) and Alex Price (Draco Malfoy) will appear, with the support of Actors' Equity Association, according to the show's producers.
We have assembled an extraordinary cast for Broadway.
"I. can't wait to dive back into it with seven of our original London cast members reprising their thrilling performances for NY audiences", director John Tiffany said in a statement, adding that 28 new actors will fill the other roles. "Our Cursed Child family is growing with twenty-eight brilliant new actors bringing their unique talents to our production".
There will also be an ensemble of 28 actors. Tickets go on sale October 12. So if you're an American Potterhead who couldn't afford a plane ticket, and were despairing over missing the iconic Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger, fear not!
Registration opens October 1 at 10 a.m. EDT and continues through 10 p.m. EDT on October 5, so mark your calendars and set your alerts now. Or you can always try your luck with "Accio, tickets!".
