Uriminzokkiri uploaded a video suggestive of its launch of intermediate-range Hwasong-12 ballistic missiles toward Guam on its YouTube account Saturday in an apparent bid to show that it can take actions against the United States if determined.
North Korea may have called off its plan to attack Guam for now, but it's not backing down from its threatening rhetoric about the US territory.
"The U.S. will be wholly held accountable for the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by such reckless aggressive war maneuvers, as it chose a military confrontation [with North Korea]", a North Korean military spokesman said to KCNA.
In the case of North Korea, unhinged threats from President Trump actually make everyone in the world a lot less safe because the secluded country doesn't have the capability to strike back if the USA strikes first. The video is titled, "What will the cost be for Americans, who are losing sleep at night?".
Footage of North Korea's successful missile tests of the Hwasong-14 ICBM are followed by an animated sequence that zooms in on the territory of Guam from space, NK News reported, the first English-language outlet to spot the propaganda video.
Just this month, as tensions between Washington and Pyongyang mounted following the launch of North Korea's second intercontinental ballistic missile, Trump warned North Korea that it stood to feel the "fire and fury" of the American military.
"This is because the "Hwasong-12" rocket is harassing the day and the night of the USA", the subtitle continues, showing footage of two missiles being launched. However, leader Kim Jong Un said later that he would watch Washington's conduct before executing the plan. A THAAD system's goal is to shoot down the type of intermediate range ballistic missile that North Korea could possibly shoot at or near Guam.
"[The U.S.] boasts that not a single bullet has landed in its territory during 150 invasions ... the U.S. which abused and harassed people of other countries ... is threatened by just one announcement by the North's commander in chief".
"The US will live in fear and anxiety the whole time". The air force base there houses USA bombers equipped with nuclear weapons capable of striking North Korea. Well, here's a reason not to be too anxious: The video was entirely in Korean.
