Mumbai: It is the proud moment for handsome Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she now holds the honour of being the first actress to hoist Indian flag in Melbourne. As a special annual feature of the fest, Aishwarya also hoisted the Indian flag along with Indian High Commissioner A M Gondane, Melbourne Consul General Manika Jain and festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange at the Federation Square building to celebrate the 70th Indian Independence Day.
Nitesh Tiwari win the Best Director Award for Dangal. The last time when I was in Melbourne, I was dancing behind Bollywood stars as a background dancer at the Commonwealth Games event.
Konkona Sensharma got the Best Actress award for Lipstick Under My Burkha and the movie got applauded at the film festival as it got Best Indie Film award.
Speaking about the win for Popular Choice and Best Director, Nitesh Tiwari said, "This is my global award and it will truly be remembered". He was overwhelmed for bagging this award and said, "This is my first global award and it will truly be remembered". Johar was honoured with the leadership in cinema award.
Dangal and Baahubali won the award in this category.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan mesmerised all with her presence at the IFFM Awards 2017.
Aish thanked Melbourne for giving such an honor to her and said, "Thank you so much Melbourne, thank you everyone for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love and warmth". Accepting the award, Aishwarya said, "I'm so humbled and filed with gratitude to be given this award".
