For one, Acer drop tested this sucker to 48 inches (122 cm). The notebook features an 11.6-inch display with optional touch, and up to 13 hours battery life.
Acer promises extra-long battery life to aid education and business customers in productivity throughout the day. On top of all this, the internal design sports a honeycomb structure to defend the laptop from up to 132 pounds (60 kg) of downward force on the top. It also features a spill-resistant keyboard, so whether it is a student knocking over a carton of milk or a teacher spilling a cup of coffee, there's a good chance this Chromebook will live to tell about it. Because this model is built for schools that will be putting them in the hands of potentially destructive kids, the company has also included a combination of small keyboard gaps and recessed keys to keep kids from prying off the key caps.
The Chromebook 11 C771 features a USB 3.1 Type-C port, in addition to two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI output for display connectivity.
The manufacturer also says, "The Acer C771 Chromebook has an IPS display with touch screen or non-touch options, so schools can meet their curriculum and budget requirements". Also, students and business customers can stay connected with fast dual-band 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac/a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. The 11.6-inch display has a 1366x768 resolution that ensures clear apps and text as well as vivid images. Other design elements include a weight of 2.98lbs, a thickness of 0.82in, and a 180-degree hinge.
Starting at $280, the 11.6-inch laptop will be available to purchase later this month. Students can also access files offline, and even open and edit Microsoft Office documents as well as Google Documents. Acer's Chromebook 11 C771 appears to be yet another formidable device in Google's ever growing Chrome OS hardware ecosystem.
No information was given on how much the Core i5 and Core i3 versions are going to cost, but they will arrive in sometime in September and will most likely cost a bit more.
The initial models to be available in the line will come with a 6th Generation Intel Celeron 3855U processor, 32GB of eMMC storage and 4GB of RAM, and either a touch-screen (model C771T-C1WS) or non-touch (model C771-C4TM) IPS display priced at $329.99 and $279.99 respectively.
